WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

What Hypnosis in NOT

Due to the media’s portrayal of Hypnosis let’s dis-spell what Hypnosis is not.  Hypnosis is NOT mind control, in fact you will be more focused and in control during your hypnosis journey.  You cannot stay stuck in hypnosis, it is a natural state just like daydreaming.  You will not cluck like a chicken…..Unless you want to!  I can NOT make you do anything you do not want to do, with that being said you have to want to make the change you are coming in for because hypnosis is not magic. Clients that come in ready to play at 100% get 100% success!

What is Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a state of relaxation combined with a heightened state of focus and awareness to create consciousness and mindfulness.  The Daydream-like state is a natural state that already happens to the human mind when it encounters an overwhelmed feeling due to an overload of information.

Do you remember dazing off in the middle of class?  Daydreaming in the morning traffic? Remember that movie… you know the one…where you got so emotionally involved? All states of environmental hypnosis that are brought on naturally.  In hypnosis the therapist/practitioner induces relaxation and creates that natural state of focus in the mind while creating a relaxing state for your body to achieve the desired outcome that the client seeks.  Hypnosis can be in a wide area of life such as overcoming unwanted habits, overcoming fears and phobias, losing weight or even overcoming traumas, just to name a few.

The process of Hypnosis is very simple.   During the first part of your session you will discuss with the therapist what you want your desired outcomes to be. The therapist, then, guides you through a relaxation process in a comfortable, safe setting in which you are the “pilot” of your journey and the hypnotherapist is simply guiding you as your “co-pilot” to get out from where you are and onto where you want to be.  This is done by using all the information that the therapist takes from you during the cognitive part of your session. Upon getting out of hypnosis you feel relaxed and recharged. Just as easy as that.

Hypnosis is a natural, state of “altered awareness and increased suggestibility.” It is a relaxed state of mind often induced during our everyday, life. Everyday activities such as being engaged in a movie, novel, or missing your freeway exit is a common form of hypnosis. You experience hypnosis each night before you fall asleep as well as every morning when you wake up.

*** Please keep in mind that people suffering from psychosis, suicidal depression, or that are on medications for certain psychological stability should only be hypnotized by an experienced hypnotherapist with the client’s doctor or psychiatrist written permission.
