WHAT IS NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming, it is the practice of understanding how people organise their thoughts, emotions, language and behavior to produce their results.  NLP is made up of the three most influential components that are encompassed to produce what we know as our outcomes.

NEURO to do with the neurological part of our minds, both at the conscious and subconscious levels,  particularly regarding how states of mind (and body) affect communication and behavior .

LINGUISTIC  is the language we use to communicate.  We unknowingly use sensory based language to communicate our desires.  Understanding this clarifies how we misinterpret information in a conversation.

PROGRAMMING the ability to model and focus on the behaviors we want to get the outcomes we desire. By understanding this aspect of our day to day we recognize how we are creating everything in our lives, both the wanted and unwanted.

“Programming” Also refers to the capacity to change the states of our mind and body. I’m sure you’ve heard the term living on autopilot, right? To someone trained in NLP, this term means that you are living according to your programming, which consists of habitual thoughts, (negative/positive) feelings or emotions, reactions, beliefs, values and traditions. Someone trained in neuro-linguistic programming knows how such programs are structured in the mind and how to access them through conversation (language) so that outdated programs and autopilot behaviors can be changed.
